John and Mary Lou Dasburg, both graduates of UF, have established a new chair in the College of Engineering with a $1.5M gift. John Dasburg received his bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering in 1966.

The gift will allow for the hire of a faculty member whose research and teaching endeavors address prime focus areas in engineering and technology.

“Strengthening the faculty of the College of Engineering lifts the standing not only of the college but also of the university and the state of Florida. We are pleased to provide this resource,” said John Dasburg, chairman and CEO of ASTAR Air Cargo.

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) announced the Dasburg’s gift in the Higher Education section of their daily newsletter on June 25, 2013.
