UF engineering students can apply for academic scholarships through Scholarship Universe, the university’s centralized scholarship platform.
Eligibility
To apply, students must:
- Be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.
- Maintain good academic standing.

The application period to apply for 2026-27 academic scholarships is now closed.

2027–2028 scholarship essay prompts:
Essay #1 (250 words max):
Reflecting through your individual projects or teams you have been part of, describe what the most creative solution you personally have come up with to overcome a design challenge or technical obstacle.
Essay #2 (250 words max):
Think about the major you are in. Tell us about how you would define happiness and professional satisfaction practicing in your chosen engineering or computer science field 5 years from now.
The Fernandez Family Scholars and Pressly Scholars programs support undergraduate engineering students engaged in research. These programs offer:
- $1,500 stipend (split across two semesters, with recipients being awarded in October/January)
- Research mentorship
- Opportunities to present at local, state, and national conferences
- Development of research and communication skills
Eligibility
- Full-time UF engineering undergraduate student
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Interest in research and/or graduate studies in engineering
Requirements for Selected Students
- Attend an orientation hosted by Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Student Affairs
- Enroll in EGN 4912: Engineering Undergraduate Research
- Complete two consecutive semesters of research
- Submit a summary of your proposed project (1 page max) as part of the application
- Present at the UF Center for Undergraduate Research Symposium and/or the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference
