June 9, 2026While access has improved for people with disabilities, small inconveniences still exist everywhere. To solve that — piece by piece — students from the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering are helping design 3D-printed assistive devices for locals with unique needs.

Center for Experiential Learning launches with Sarah Furtney as director
May 12, 2025The HWCOE office of Student Affairs’ new Center for Experiential Learning is launching this winter with inaugural director, Sarah Furtney, Ph.D. The Experiential Learning Center is a single place where students, faculty, advisors, and industry partners can go for information and support about co-curricular, outside-of-the-classroom, formative experiences for our Gator Engineering students.

Center for Experiential Learning welcomes Joel Parker
May 9, 2025Joel comes to us from HWCOE First Year Advising and has extensive experience as an advisor and educator for our students. He completed graduate studies in Art History at UF, earned an MFA in Painting at Washington University in St. Lous, and received BA’s in Studio Art and Art History from the College of Charleston. Joel started his career here at UF as an academic advisor in HWCOE Advising in 2014.
