It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Warren B. Nelms, an outstanding alumnus from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Nelms passed away on May 16, 2021.
“Warren was an inspiration to all of us. His ingenuity and passionate belief that we could make our lives better by making our environment smarter and more connected will continue to be a guiding principle within our College,” said Cammy Abernathy, Ph.D., dean of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. “We are honored and privileged to carry out his legacy and that of his family for many generations to come. We send our deepest condolences to Patsy, David and Sandra and the entire Nelms family.”
Warren is also forever honored and remembered by the Warren B. Nelms Institute for the Connected World, thanks to a generous gift made by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Daryl Nelms and the Nelms family in 2017.
