An accountability report released at Wednesday’s Board of Governors meeting in Gainesville shows the University of Florida leads the state when it comes to producing graduates in so-called STEM majors emphasized by state leaders.
At the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, UF awarded STEM bachelor’s degrees to 31 percent of its students, six percentage points ahead of the second-highest percentage at New College in Sarasota, according to the System Accountability Report. The report also noted that UF’s four-year graduation rate for 2008 freshmen is 67 percent, well above the state average of 42 percent.
