1. Organizational needs assessment
- The organization defines the scope of work for the internship.
- Preferred skills, qualifications, and relevant experience are identified.
2. UF Innovation Station initiates the intern search
- The internship opportunity is shared with students, with a focus on candidates from the Sarasota region whenever possible.
- Student resumes are collected and reviewed to identify the strongest candidates and best organizational fit. Note that UFIS will adhere to all established recruiting processes and protocols of the organization.
- Resumes of the most qualified candidates are then provided to the organization for review.
3. Organization-led interview and selection process
- The organization contacts selected student candidates directly to schedule interviews and discussions.
- All human resources activities—including interviews, offers, compensation, timing, reporting structure, and onboarding—are handled directly between the organization and the student.
- The organization may provide feedback and request additional information/candidates as needed.
4. Internship follow-up and continuous improvement
- We encourage the organization to provide ongoing feedback on program effectiveness.
- UFIS will connect with both the organization and the student at the midpoint and conclusion of the internship to gather feedback and support continuous process improvement.
