The HWCOE Mercury theme has several custom page and post options that affect their appearance.

Page/post templates

Choose which template your page or post displays in the Summary panel at the top of the Page or Post Inspector.

Default template

The basic page or post template. Full width; does not automatically display the page/post title or featured image. You’ll need to build all copy, meta information, navigation, titles, and other content in the Block Editor using WordPress and Mercury blocks.

The default template is the most flexible and will let you get the most out of the Mercury theme.

Page title and section nav (page template)

The Page Title with Section Nav page template

This template is intended to quickly and easily adapt Classic Editor content without having to rebuild a page. It displays the page title and adds padding and an instance of the Section Navigation menu.

Page title and no sidebar (page template)

This template is intended to quickly and easily adapt Classic Editor content without having to rebuild a page. It displays the page title and adds padding.

News template (page template)

Page template: News

Shows a masonry card layout of all posts on the site, filterable by category and year. Does not show page content. Useful to apply to a news page and use as your site’s Posts page.

Full width image (post template)

Post template: Full Width Image

Displays post title and meta, and shows the featured image as a hero header.

Sidebar left (post template)

Post template: Sidebar

Displays post title, meta, featured image, and any widgets in the Sidebar widget area.

No sidebar (post template)

Post template: No sidebar

Does not display sidebar, but displays post title, meta, and featured image.

Breadcrumbs

To disable the breadcrumb navigation on a page, open the Page Options panel in the Page Inspector and select the “disable breadcrumb display on this page” checkbox.

Restrict access to a page

To ensure only UF personnel have access to view a page, open the Page Options panel in the Page Inspector and select the “Limit content to Shibboleth or WordPress users” checkbox. Then select either “Gatorlink Users” or “WordPress users” from the Visitor Authentication Level dropdown.
