NIMET Fellowship

NIMET Fellowship

The institute can offer several Robert C. Pittman Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET) Fellowships to qualified graduate students. The objectives of this fellowship program are to support the recruitment of outstanding graduate students and to facilitate the initiation of inter-college NIMET-related research on campus.

Each NIMET Fellow will receive a one-time award of $6,000, which is intended to provide financial support and enable student travel to attend research conferences and other research-related activities.

The NIMET Fellow recipient must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Must have applied to (or be an actively enrolled in) a Ph.D. program in the college of engineering
  • Establish a supervisory committee that is co-chaired by one faculty member from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and one from a different college (e.g., College of Medicine, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, etc.). A prospective committee should be identified by the end of the first year and finalized by the end of the second year.
  • Work on a research project related to the mission of the institute
  • Attend all NIMET events and activities (e.g., NIMET meetings, seminars, and symposia)

Newly admitted Ph.D. students will be contacted in February or March about the application process for these research institute fellowships.
