HWCOE Facilities Operations works closely with the University’s two major facilities units: Planning Design and Construction (PD&C) and Facilities Services. PD&C oversees new construction and renovation projects for the University. Facilities Services is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all existing facilities at the University, including buildings, utility infrastructure, and landscaping. HWCOE Facilities Operations acts as a liaison and extension of these units for HWCOE projects.
There are two systems that notify PD&C and Facilities Services of requested projects and required repairs: Project Requests and Work Requests. Any faculty or staff member within the University is able to submit either of these requests.
The Project Request system should be used for the renovation of existing spaces that includes:
- Finish upgrades
- Space reconfiguration
- Add/remove walls
- Add/remove utilities including electrical, plumbing and HVAC
Project Requests are routed to PD&C. When a request is received, PD&C will assign a project manager to assist you with planning and completing the project. For most HWCOE minor projects (less than $200,000), PD&C will assign the Director of HWCOE Facilities Operations as the project manager.

Work Order Requests
The Work Request system should be used for repair and maintenance requests for existing buildings and infrastructure including:
- HVAC repairs
- Plumbing repairs
- Electrical and lighting repairs
- Custodial requests
Work Requests are routed to Facilities Services. Once the request is received, a work order will be issued to the appropriate Facilities Services shop to complete repairs.
