The Institute is out to instill a mindset of leadership in Gator Engineers. This can occur through experiential and curricular-based education that focuses on their personal development of leadership competencies to prepare them for a variety of group, organizational and strategic leadership roles in their professional careers. The curricula extends into engineering project management, providing students with foundational competencies that are virtually ubiquitous in and applicable to all types of engineering and technology-centric organizations. The curricula also includes a course on engineering ethics and professionalism, as this topic is as much a part of a student’s engineering development as is the study of higher order mathematics, engineering problem solving, and technology applications and innovations.
