Course Planning

Students are eligible to apply for the UF Engineering Exchange Program if they attend a UF engineering partner school and receive a nomination from their home university.

Nominated students must complete the online UFIC exchange application by the posted deadlines. Applicants are required to upload documents verifying visa eligibility (passport), financial resources, English proficiency, and academic preparation (transcript), as required by UFIC.

Course registration cannot begin until all application documents have been submitted and approved by the relevant UF departments.

Engineering exchange students must take at least 75% of their courses within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering unless otherwise specified in the exchange agreement or approved by the engineering advisor.

Information about the nomination process is available on the UF International Center website.

The Schedule of Courses page includes all courses offered by the University of Florida.

Specific course schedules for incoming exchange students are released in April (for the Fall semester) and October (for the Spring semester).

  • Undergraduate exchange students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours and may take up to 18 credit hours. The average undergraduate course load at UF is 12–16 credit hours.
  • Graduate students must take a minimum of 9 credit hours.

Each credit hour represents the number of in-class hours per week. Students should expect to spend 1–2 hours outside of class for each credit hour.

Exchange students cannot register themselves for courses with prerequisites.

Students must complete all UFIC application requirements and clear any registration holds before course registration. An academic advisor will contact students to assist with registration. Please refer to the course restrictions listed above.

Students may adjust their schedules during the first week of classes. This period allows students to meet instructors and review syllabi. Class additions depend on seat availability and must occur by the end of the first week.

Students can modify their schedule during the first week of classes. This provides students with the opportunity to meet the instructor and review the syllabus. Classes can be added through the end of the first week, depending on seat availability.

It is crucial to attend all classes that you intend to take during the first week of classes even if you are not officially registered.

International Student Achievement Awards

The International Student Achievement Awards Ceremony is held each year during UF’s International Education Week and is sponsored by the UF International Center.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of international students. As the largest academic home to UF’s international community, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering honors and thanks all international students for their positive contributions to UF and to our college’s global engagement efforts.

These awards recognize the impactful academic, research, and community contributions of international students across the university.
