ExxonMobil Foundation Research Scholars Program
Eligibility
- HWCOE undergraduate students only
- any year
- any major
- must be a first generation college student or low-income student
- either already working in a UF research lab or have recent confirmation from PI of starting in a new lab
Benefits of the ExxonMobil Foundation Scholars Research Program
- Student receives a $2,000 scholarship for Fall semester and a $2,000 scholarship for Spring semester. If a student does not complete the end-of-semester deliverable (or it’s not satisfactory) OR the PI does not submit an evaluation evaluation (or it’s not satisfactory) at the end of fall semester, the spring scholarship will be revoked.

Scholars Program Timeline
- application opens October 1, 2025
- application closes October 15, 2025
- applicants receive decisions by end of October 2025
Restrictions
- Students can only be an ExxonMobil Foundation Research Scholar for one academic year
For PI’s
Please complete this form at the end of Fall semester. Along with the student’s end-of-semester deliverable, the feedback you provide in this form will be used to determine if your student should be automatically enrolled to receive the $2,000 scholarship in the Spring. A reminder email will be sent from CEL to all PI’s. Your students will also be encouraged to remind you about this program requirement.

Program Expectations
- meet research laboratory expectations as communicated with PI, this will be reflected as receiving an overall “satisfactory” score in the evaluation that is sent directly to the Center
- attend 2 ExxonMobil Scholars Program-approved events each semester. Approved events include those hosted by UF Center for Undergraduate Research or UF Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program. Please share your documented attendance with CEL immediately after participating.
- Although not required, we encourage you to develop an abstract and submit your research project to the Center for Undergraduate Research Student Research Symposium, an event that is hosted in Fall and Spring semesters. You and your PI can decide if the Fall and/or Spring event is a better fit for you.
