The complete list of ALL 1,000+ UF student organizations can be found on the GatorConnect page. Students join organizations and design teams to gain experience, join a community of peers working towards a common goal, and build their social and professional networks. It’s up to you to decide which organizations and how many organizations to join! Since you are an engineering student, it is encouraged that you join at least one engineering-related organization. The quality of your involvement (depth of contributions and long-term commitment) is valued more than quantity.
You can see department-sponsored and College-sponsored organizations by using the category filter feature found at the top left. You can also search for a particular word using the search bar at the top right. This list of engineering-related organizations has been carefully created by the HWCOE Center for Experiential Learning.

Membership: Swamp Launch Rocket Team is an award-winning student design team at the University of Florida that enables students to design, build, and launch high-powered rockets. Our organization aims to provide our members with the tools to develop skills that will benefit their engineering studies and professional development while exploring rocket engineering. Our team competes in two competitions: the NASA University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) and the ESRA International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). These two branches of the team develop independent rocket and payload projects each year and seek to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the field of rocketry. Along with our competitions, we participate in educational engagement events in the Gainesville and Alachua County area, with the goal of encouraging kids to explore STEM and their own imaginations. We pride ourselves on continuously giving back to the community that supports our members.
Though we tend to have mostly MAE students, we are open to any major and any years! For most sub-teams within the team, there is no applications and students simply attend meetings/work sessions and jump right into projects! For our development sub-teams which work on multi-year research and development projects, however, students must apply to join the sub-team (the applications can typically be found on our Slack) and applications are typically reviewed at the beginning of each semester.
