Program Overview

A guided path to Gator Engineering through Santa Fe College

Gator Engineering at Santa Fe is a collaboration between the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) and Santa Fe College (SF) in Gainesville, Florida. This invitation-only partnership program was created to offer a guided pathway into UF Engineering for a select group of talented freshman applicants who were not offered traditional freshman admission due to space constraints.

Since launching in Fall 2013, this program has enabled admitted students to begin their academic journey at Santa Fe, complete foundational coursework, and seamlessly transition to the University of Florida to finish their UF engineering degree.

Participating Majors

Seven majors from the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering are available through this program:

Eligibility & Application

Gator Engineering at Santa Fe is by invitation only. Students cannot apply directly to the program.

To be considered for this program, students must:

  • Apply to the University of Florida as a traditional freshman by the Early Action (EA) deadline (typically November 1).
  • Select one of the seven participating engineering majors as their intended major on the UF application.
  • Be evaluated by UF Admissions and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering during the freshman review process.

Only those students who meet all three conditions may be invited.

Important: UF Admissions will notify selected students of their invitation to the program on the applicable freshman decision release date. If you were not invited to the program, but remain interested in UF Engineering, you are encouraged to pursue the traditional transfer route through Santa Fe College.
