Innovation Competency Development

The Innovation Competency Development Program is a vital element of IGNITE dedicated to shaping the development of future innovators and subject matter experts, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship across the College of Engineering and the entire university. This specialized training channels students towards becoming subject matter experts in various aspects of innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and intrapreneurship, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead and guide their peers effectively.

Through their expertise, students will become catalysts for change, creating an environment that nurtures and encourages other students to explore new ideas, think critically, and develop solutions to complex challenges. This program will extend beyond the training of the IGNITE leadership group and encompass the student innovation hub as a whole.
Tracking and certification of skills allow for quantifying student progress in various leadership skills, such as persuasive communication, teamwork, leadership, and decision-making. This data-driven approach provides a clear picture of each student’s development over time, enabling mentors and educators the ability to identify individuals’ strengths and areas for improvement. This facilitates tailored guidance and support, ensuring students receive the necessary resources to excel.
