Innovation Fellows

The Innovation Fellows Program is a joint program between the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and Warrington College of Business.  The program is designed to take a select group of undergraduate students from the two colleges, have them form interdisciplinary teams and put them through a 15-18 week program focused on taking them deeper into an understanding of how to work together as a team to pursue development of a project or technology.

The teams will progress through the process of idea generation, problem and solution definition, customer discovery and feedback analysis, and finally, development of an overall project summary pitch based on the results of their efforts.  The teams will then pitch their ideas to the advisory board and revise them based on feedback.  The goal is to get them to a point where they can travel to Silicon Valley at the end of the program and present their company to the two college’s West Coast Advisory Board.

Selected students are expected to attend weekly sessions and participate in weekly discussion topics.  The program will require work outside of the sessions and each participant must agree to work outside of the session times to research the opportunity for the project or technology.  Students are expected to form teams, depending on the number of participants, to explore the opportunity to form a company around a technology idea.  The idea preferably will come from one of the participants on each team.

The programs first Cohort started in the Fall Semester of 2018 and will continue through the middle of the Spring Semester 2019. For Information on the Cohort I participants click here.
