The main interest of the Xue Research Group is in the science and engineering of electronic materials, particularly organic and hybrid organic-inorganic electronic materials. There are two primary objectives for our research:

  • to gain a more profound understanding of the fundamental physical properties and processing of organic and hybrid organic-inorganic materials; and
  • to develop novel electronic and photonic devices based on these materials that either have interesting performance characteristics or have performance suitable for practical use in photovoltaics, lighting, displays, photodetection, circuitry, and sensing.

Current research topics include:

  • Organic photovoltaic (OPV) materials and devices
  • Hybrid organic-inorganic photovoltaic cells
  • Blue and white organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) for displays and lighting
  • Near infrared emitting OLEDs
  • Quantum-dot based light-emitting devices (QLEDs)
  • Organic photodetectors and phototransistors
  • Integrated optoelectronic devices and system
