2017 Robert C. Pittman NIMET Fellow
Ph.D. Student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering
B.S., The University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Ellie graduated with a B.S in Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). She has had research experiences at Medtronic investigating a high performance electrode coating for a neurostimulator and in research and development for a pancreaticobiliary access device. She has also participated in research experiences as an undergraduate research assistant in the Biomedical Imaging and Biosignal Analysis laboratory at UNL and held an intern position at Johnson Space Center through the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. Ellie will become a graduate research assistant within the Materials Design and Prototyping Laboratory and the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida. Ellie is looking forward to working, under Dr. Michele Manuel’s guidance, with magnesium alloys for biodegradable implant applications, including bone fixation and dental implants.
Ellie’s research interests include metallurgy for medical technologies.
