The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is committed to providing accessible, consistent, and accurate academic advising to all students regardless of major. Our professional advisors and college life coaches are continually developing new strategies that contribute to the success of our Gator Engineers and the UF community.
First-Year Engineering Students
Academic Planning and College Life Coaching
All first year and exploratory engineering students have an assigned Academic Advisor and College Life Coach in the Center for Student Excellence located in 204 Weil Hall. We’ll help you develop an academic plan and engage in opportunities that will promote your success.
First Year Engineering Advising Course
All first year engineering students will be enrolled in the mandatory First Year Engineering Advising course.
The course is 0 credit hours, and there is no fee.
Our experienced team of Engineering Peer Advisors look forward to sharing their experiences and strategies for success. These Gator Engineers are dedicated to supporting new students in their transition to the university. Peer Advisors are available from 10:00 – 3:30 Monday through Friday.
HOURS & LOCATION:

The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00.
Walk-In Advising is available for “quick questions” Monday through Thursday from 10:00-12:00 and 1:00 – 4:00 throughout the regular academic term. Students are encouraged to meet with their assigned advisors unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Friday hours are by appointment only.
Walk-in availability will vary during peak periods when students are asked to schedule specific meeting times with their academic advisors and career coaches. Each student will receive an email with a link to the appropriate advisor calendar prior to semesterly academic planning meetings.
