Welcome to Gator Engineering at State College of Florida!

Congratulations on your invitation to the Gator Engineering at State College of Florida program, a collaboration between the University of Florida (UF), Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE), and State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), and made possible by a generous gift from the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation. Your application was reviewed by a team of HWCOE faculty and staff who recognized the hard work and dedication that you have demonstrated towards your chosen field. Gator Engineering at SCF was developed as a way to provide deserving and committed students with a direct pathway to the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and to an engineering degree from the only Top 10 Public University in the state of Florida.

This innovative B.S. engineering degree program has a focus on information technology/computer science related degree programs and brings Gator Engineering right to your backyard. Gator Engineering at SCF allows a cohort of students to begin their coursework at SCF, gain admission to UF as early as their first spring semester, continue coursework at SCF for approximately two more semesters (or until completion of all critical tracking courses), and then move to the UF campus to complete their courses in their major. This program includes an element of promoting live-learn-work experiences (e.g., co-ops and internships) with companies in Sarasota and surrounding regions to increase the pipeline of local residents into the HWCOE computer science and information technology programs and then back into the community’s innovation ecosystem.
