What do Electrical and Computer Engineers do?

Electrical engineers master a broad mix of electromagnetics, power, devices, electronics, controls, communications, signal processing, and computers. These are the building blocks for the high-tech revolution that continues to transform our world.

Computer engineering focuses on the computer-related aspects of electrical engineering, but adds in more programming, data structures, algorithms and other topics from the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering.

With their broad training, electrical and computer engineers are well-positioned to be successful in areas as diverse as software development, artificial intelligence, automotive, aerospace, biomedical, internet of things, cybersecurity, smart power, and much more.
