Safety is an important aspect of any complete design, but it should not be considered as a post process application. Throughout the design process the safety requirements should be considered. This presentation introduces basic safety planning considerations and includes a short activity.
Biography
Carol Chesney (PhD, University of Florida; BS Carnegie Mellon) was a graduate student and postdoc researcher in the Center for Intelligent Machines and Robotics (CIMAR) at UF. She has taught controls and instruments and measurements laboratory courses at UF. She has worked on various engineering projects including UAV retrieval for IAtech and satellite mirror surface control for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). Recently she has been working with K-12 STEM instruction, trying to inspire future engineers. Other Interests include amateur radio, photography and triathlon.
