During its post-election Economic Outlook event on December 4, the Economic Development Council of Sarasota presented the 14th Annual Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Award to Allen Carlson, the regional director of the University of Florida Innovation Station in Sarasota.

Dr. Hayes will work closely with engineering and computer science faculty across the college helping integrate human-centered design with software and hardware developments. Dr. Hayes has over 30 years’ of hands-on law enforcement, retailing, and research-based crime control experience in the US and over 20 countries.
UF Engineer Brings Changes to Florida’s K-12 STEM Education
Early assessments of the Engaging Quality Instruction through Professional Development (EQuIPD) program are revealing its impressive impact among Florida teachers. The EQuIPD program, led by the Department of Materials Science & Engineering Senior Lecturer Nancy Ruzycki, Ph.D., is funded through a $5 million Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant and specially designed to support teachers in learning new instruction techniques.
