Speaker: Dr. Xueying Tang
Title: ABE Biocomplexity Engineering: “Hurricane number prediction and region selection with spatially dependent global-local shrinkage priors”
Bio: Dr. Xueying Tang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Peking University, China, before completing her Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Florida in 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Malay Ghosh and Dr. Nikolay Bliznyuk. She then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Statistics at Columbia University with Dr. Jingchen Liu and Dr. Zhiliang Ying. Her research interests include high-dimensional Bayesian statistics, Bayesian small area estimation, latent variable models and their applications in education and psychology, as well as process data analysis.
