Title: Integrating Emerging Learning Technologies into Curriculum: Instructional Design Considerations for Online and Face-to-Face Course Delivery.

Abstract: The presentation focuses on current practices and challenges in the process of integrating emerging learning technologies (e.g., augmented, virtual, and mixed realities, rich multimedia such as 360 immersive video, etc.) in various course delivery modalities. This integration is explored through the lens of instructional design. As such, the concept of alignment between the essential instructional design components (learning objectives, content, activities, tools, and assessment) is fully addressed. Special attention will be given to the role of policies and technology leadership approaches in promoting sustainable integration of emerging learning technologies into a curriculum. Prominent models will be highlighted as well.

Bio: The scope of Dr. Lazarevic’s research interest encompasses the intersection of online teaching methods and quality assurance, instructional design, emerging technologies including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), interactive multimedia, cognition, and learning. Currently, his research endeavors gravitate toward exploring effective strategies for integrating emerging learning technologies associated with online instruction. He is especially invested in designing, developing, and evaluating the affordances of video technology and 360/VR immersive content and its application in an online environment. Translating theory into practice combined with reflective instructional design has been the pivotal point of his academic efforts in the past decade.
