Abstract:  A Crucial Conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. It is possible to handle these challenging discussions in a way that promotes the sharing of facts, ideas, feelings and opinions candidly and honestly.

VitalSmarts® Crucial Conversations model encourages the development of skills and the practice of strategies that help to stay focused on what you really want, maintain dialogue, and speak persuasively, not abrasively.

Part 1 of the series covers the components of the model that allow people to work on themselves first to develop the skills and understanding that get them to positively and effectively engage in a Crucial Conversation.
