SECME
Founded in 1975, SECME was an alliance of K-12 educators, universities, parents, and industry/government partners committed to engaging and preparing students for college and careers in STEM and ensuring they have opportunities to engage in authentic engineering experiences. SECME was brought to the University of Florida by former Dean Cammy Abernathy in 2017.
After 8 years hosting the national organization and competition at the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, UF is no longer the SECME National Competition host university as of 2025.
If any universities are interested in becoming the SECME organizing university and would like information regarding the logistics and educational materials relating to this national STEM competition, please reach out to Dr. Pamela Dickrell, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, at pld@ufl.edu
