Title: Interpretation, Measurement and Analysis of EIS

Presented by: Mark E. Orazem, Ph.D.

Analysis of impedance data requires understanding of both the chemistry and physics of the system under investigation and the error structure of the data. The section will cover the stochastic and bias contributions to the error structure; the use of the measurement model program to assess the stochastic error structure, identify the portion of the measurement that is not consistent with the Kramers-Kronig relations, and identify the part of the measurement confounded by nonuniform current and potential distributions; a systematic approach to model development based on electrode geometry and proposed reaction mechanisms, regression of the model to impedance data; and interpretation of constant-phase-element model parameters in terms of meaningful quantities such as capacitance.
