  • The International Student Awards Ceremony is celebrated each year in tandem with UF’s International Education Week and is sponsored by the University of Florida International Center.

    The International Student Awards was created to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our international students. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is the biggest home to UF’s international community and we want to thank each and everyone of you for bringing a positive effect to UF’s internationalization efforts.

    The awards recognizes outstanding contributions of international students to promote and foster continued involvement and outstanding achievement in the college, university, and community.

    This year, the ceremony will be held on:

    Wednesday, November 14th, 2018
    5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    Location: Emerson Alumni Hall, The Presidents Ballroom

    Congratulations to our awardees for the UFIC International Student Awards 2018 

    The category of awards and the application procedure is summarized below:

    HWCOE Korean Scholastic Excellence Award
    • Korean graduate students doing research

    This is a scholarship of $500 offered by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering for Korean graduate engineering students.

    Dr. Paul W. Chun and Diane C. Chun established this fund in 2006 to support fellowships for Koreans students showing scholastic excellence in graduate studies at University of Florida.

    Alec Courtelis Award
    (College will nominate two students for this award.Final award recipients will be selected by a committee of 3 representatives at the university level)
    •  Currently enrolled in a Master or Ph.D. Program
    • Demonstrates outstanding academic achievement.
    • Contributions to the department and college exceed expectations.
    • Contributions and service to campus life at UF exceed expectations.
    • A non-immigrant F-1/J-1 student visa holder
    • Involvement in the Gainesville community.

    • 3 letters of recommendation from faculty advisors, community leaders, and/or university representatives

    Diane Fisher Award

    (Email submissions directly to UFIC. Winners will be selected by a committee of 3 representatives)

    • Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelors program
    • Holds at least a 3.0 G.P.A.
    • Exhibits outstanding service/contributions to their department/UF or broader community
    • A non-immigrant F-1/J-1 student visa holder in good standing

    Scarborough-Maud Frazer Award

    • Currently enrolled full-time in a Masters or Ph.D. program
    • Holds at least a 3.0 G.P.A.
    • Exhibits outstanding service/contributions to their department/UF or broader community
    • A non-immigrant F-1/J-1 student visa holder in good standing
