Transfer Students

Transfer Students

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering admits qualified transfer students who have completed an Associate in Arts degree at a Florida public community or state college. Students seeking admission from other universities or out-of-state schools may be considered for admission on a space available basis. Transfer students are admitted in fall, spring, and summer C terms. Transfer students who are admitted to UF as non-engineering majors generally cannot change their major to engineering.

Please visit these links for more information on incoming student transfers.

Transfer admissions decisions are made by each major department. Please select your intended major from the Programs of Study list for information pertaining to specific transfer requirements.

If You Were Not Admitted to Gator Engineering

Thank you for your interest in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE). Unfortunately, we usually have moreĀ  applications than we can accommodate given College space and resources, especially in over-enrolled majors.

If you have been denied admission, please first determine the reason you were denied:

  • If you were simply missing required critical tracking courses, create a plan for completion of those courses at your current institution and then reapply to Gator Engineering for a future semester.
  • If lower critical tracking grades impacted your admission decision and your academic performance was impacted by serious extenuating circumstances that you can document, see an advisor at your current institution to discuss the possibility of retroactive drops and/or withdrawals at that institution. If your academic record changes, you can then send an updated transcript for reevaluation of your application (in the current term if you meet the credentials deadline; for a future term if not).
  • If you were denied because of missing credentials and you have updated information to share (such as grade changes or new courses in progress), or if you wish to be considered for a different major in Gator Engineering, please follow the instructions below.

Use this process for transfer appeals due to missing credentials for majors within HWCOE only; do not use for freshman appeals or for majors in other UF colleges.

Send an email to Dr. Underhill; be sure to include the following:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your UFID number
  3. What engineering major you applied for
  4. Information/documents relevant to your situation
